About Our Backdrops

WHAT MATERIAL IS USED FOR THE BACKDROPS & FLOORDROPS ?

Currently we offer 2 types of materials for our photography backdrops & floordrops.

  • PolyPro Paper (recommended for backdrops)
  • 13oz Smooth Matte Vinyl (recommended for floordrops)

For Media Walls, we offer 2 types of materials.

  • 13oz Vinyl (may produce glare)
  • 9oz Premium Polyester

DO YOU HAVE A STORE I CAN SHOP AT IN PERSON?

We are an online store and do not have a storefront where you can come and browse. Because of the large number of backdrops available on our website, it would be virtually impossible to maintain inventory, which is why each order is custom printed.

If you have any questions, feel free to read through these FAQs or send us an email if your question has not been answered.

WHAT TYPE OF PRINTER IS USED?

Backdrops Canada uses a professional large format water-based latex plotter printer which produces odourless backdrops/floordrops.

HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE DROPS?

To avoid damage, including creases and scratches, handle your drops with care. Floors and backdrops can be rolled and stored in the shipping tube or laid/hung flat to avoid creasing. To help prevent creasing, do not fold your backdrops or floordrops.

PolyPro Paper is water resistant and tear resistant; however, no material is completely indestructible and taking care of your backdrops and floordrops is very important to make sure you get the most use from them. We recommend avoiding placing food on a PolyPro Paper drop. If you plan to use the drop on the floor under ‘hazardous’ situations (i.e. animals, children, cake smashes, etc.) we recommend you use a sheet of clear plexi-glass to protect your drop.

ALWAYS use caution when placing any objects that are not soft on the surface of the floordrops to ensure you don’t scratch the design! Keep in mind that this is a “printed” surface and can be scratched by items and/or props being dragged across the drop. Protective pads on your props will ensure that sharp edges are not rubbing against the drops. Also, always lifting and/or moving your props versus dragging them across the surface of the drop will help ensure your drops will last a long time.

DO NOT use harsh chemicals or abrasive products to clean drop.

Placing an Order

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

We accept payment via Paypal, Credit Card and Interac E-transfer.

Personal Cheques may be accepted at our discretion, however our product will not be shipped until the cheque has cleared.

Purchase Orders are occasionally accepted at our discretion. Please email us for details.

DO I NEED AN ACCOUNT?

An account is not required to place an order. Simply add items to your shopping cart then checkout. However, creating an account allows you to track the status of your order and allows us to keep you informed of new offers.

DO YOU ACCEPT ORDERS FROM OUTSIDE CANADA?

Backdrops Canada accepts orders from anywhere in North America. Orders outside of Canada may require shipping surcharges; however, you will be notified of these charges before your product is sent to print.

We are not responsible for Brokerage or duty fees.

I PLACED MY ORDER, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

You will receive via email a proof of your selected image(s) as the first step in processing your order. At that time we will ask you to review image, placement and orientation. If the proof is correct you must notify us that it is approved for printing. If it is not correct, you may request adjustments as necessary. We can not proceed with printing without a written approval.

WILL THE BACKDROP DESIGN BE CROPPED?

Please keep in mind proportion when you choose a specific design. The wider or taller you order a design the larger the graphic will be. Some designs are cropped based on the size you choose and others are transformed to fit the size.

HOW DO I PLACE A CUSTOM DESIGN ORDER?

We are happy to make a custom design from your own photographs or designs. The image must be high resolution and you MUST have explicit rights to the photograph or design.

Or… if you have something in mind and can’t find it on our site, or are looking for a custom size please email us directly to discuss your order.

Processing Times

HOW SOON WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?

Please keep in mind that turn around times are NOT guaranteed. We do our best to hit the projected timelines, but printing is a multi-step process.

Because of the large number of  backdrops available on our website, it would be virtually impossible to maintain inventory that would be available for immediate shipping. That is why each order is custom printed.

For Backdrops up to 60″ wide, please allow between 2 to 4* business days for your order to be processed and ready for shipping.

For Backdrops larger than 60″ wide and Step & Repeat Media Walls, please allow between 6 to 8 business days for your order to be processed and ready for shipping.

All orders are shipped directly from our supplier.

*During the holiday season please allow up to 6-8 business days. We try our best to get all orders out as soon as possible.

CAN I RUSH MY ORDER?

Under Processing you will see an option labeled RUSH with an additional fee.

For Backdrops up to 60″ wide (on the smallest side) – Our standard 2-4 business day processing will be changed to RUSH next business day printing (this is in addition to the shipping method you select).

For Backdrops larger than 60″ wide and Step & Repeat Media Walls – Our standard 6-8 business day processing will be changed to RUSH 4 business day printing (this is in addition to the shipping method you select) for 13oz Vinyl orders. RUSH is not available for Polyester orders.

The status of your order will be updated online. Please login to check the status.

Shipping

HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?

Shipping is based on weight and package size and will be displayed during checkout. For more information on our shipping policies, please visit our Shipping & Returns page.

All backdrops/floordrops are shipped in a heavy duty cardboard tube, which we suggest you use for storage of your drop when not in use. The price of the tube is included in your handling fee.

CAN I PICK UP MY ORDER?

Yes, you are permitted to pick up your order to save on shipping costs. This option is provided during check-out.

Please note that you will be notified via email when your order is ready to be picked up. Please DO NOT arrive before you have received this email.

Returns

CAN I RETURN AN ORDER?

Because of the custom nature of our product we DO NOT accept returns or exchanges on products.

We do our best to inspect each backdrop / floordrop order that is printed (before it leaves our shop) to ensure there are no defects.

If you receive an item that is defective, damaged in transit, or an incorrect design was sent to you in error – please email us at sales@backdropscanada.ca within 48 hours of receipt of product with the details of the defect along with photos. If you do not contact us within this time frame we reserve the right to deny an exchange of the defective / damaged / incorrect item. Please DO NOT use the defective products unless we instruct you to do so.

If there is a defect in the item, one that was NOT caused by the misuse of the item, we will issue you an exchange for the same item you ordered.
